Chris Dyment Hockey Development
WORK HARD. PLAY HARD.
Here at CDH, we keep the kids moving and engaged. Our instructor to skater ratio is low, so our players get the attention they deserve. They leave our camps energized and happy and ready to go the next session. We have fun here! Join us!
Summer Skills 2024
BURBANK : READING, MA
We offer youth camps for all levels and positions. These camps are broken down into multiple stations where skill sets such as edge work, puck control, shooting and passing are the main focus. At the start of each session, skaters are split into 2 groups for roughly 20 minutes of power skating. Here, players are shown the proper techniques to be the most efficient skater possible. Each week we will break down a different skill set during the station portion of practice. In small groups of 4-8 skaters, instructors will closely monitor each player as they go through multiple reps of challenging drills. Our instructors will make sure that no skater is waiting too long in between reps, all while correcting improper techniques. At the end of each session, skaters will be broken up into smaller groups to play small area games which will allow the skaters to have some fun and better their game by applying the skills learned in the sessions.

SPECIALTY CAMPS @ RISTUCCIA
2010-2011 ELITE : HIGH SCHOOL : GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL
CDH Development will partner with Matt Thomson Shooting to run these small groups. We believe that skating is the most important skill set for hockey players, so each session will start with 20-30 minutes of edge work/overspeed. From there, players will focus on the other major skillsets (shooting, passing, puck control, etc.) as they work through game related sequences that will help each player understand how the work they are putting in will transfer to their gameplay. We will also be splitting up the forwards and D once a week so that our staff can go more into depth in position specific training. The D will work on skills such as offensive blue line attacks, 1/1’s, defending an odd man rush and D to D passing. Forwards will be shown a variety of tactics to increase their offensive capabilities in situations such as 1/2 wall attacks, PP setups, 1/1’s, scoring on the rush, goal line attacks, etc. The players will then put what they have worked on to the test as they will compete Forwards vs. D in game scenario competitions. These camps will push each player outside their comfort zones and stress the importance of thinking the game, and not just being robots that mimic what a coach shows them on a dry erase board.
D CAMP : 2010-2013 // HIGH SCHOOL
**Ice will be divided by age group**
The D Camp is for defensemen that want to take their game to the next level. As with all our camps, skating will be the focus at the beginning of each session. Players will be separated into smaller groups based on age and skillset, where the main components of playing the role of a defenseman will be broken down. A D Man has multiple roles in all 3 zones, both defensively as well as offensively. We will breakdown different game scenarios and provide options that will enable players to be successful when faced with these challenges during a game. D zone play will include various breakouts, D to D passing, defending in corners and net front. Neutral zone work will include thing like regroups, retrievals and gaps on the rush. In the offensive zone, we will focus on walking the blue line, point shots, PP passing/shooting and finding the quiet areas to become an asset to your team's offense.
Girls are welcome.

About CDH Development
Chris Dyment is the Head Instructor and Owner of Chris Dyment Hockey. He grew up playing hockey in Reading, MA and has been managing the Reading Youth Hockey Skills Program for over 10 years.
Chris graduated from Reading Memorial High School in 1998 and went on to play for Boston University. At the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Chris was selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the first pick of the fourth round (97th overall). As a Terrier, he was a member of three Beanpot championship teams (1999, 2000, 2002) and was a two-time selection to the ACHA All-America Second Team (2000, 2002). Chris was named a Hockey East First Team All-Star as sophomore before earning second-team honors his senior year, when he was selected as the Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman.
Chris earned one of the team's major awards each of his final three seasons, receiving the Most Improved Player Award in 2000 before being named the recipient of the Clifford P. Fitzgerald Scholarship the following year. As a senior, he earned the Bennett McInnis Award for Spirit. In 142 collegiate games, Chris tallied 72 points (20g, 52a) for the Terriers.
After his senior year at BU in 2002, Chris embarked on a professional playing career that lasted seven years, four of which were in the American Hockey League (AHL). He won the Calder Cup with the Houston Aeros in 2003 and then played a season with the Springfield Falcons before spending two years with the Providence Bruins, where he served as an Assistant Captain.
Chris went on to play for the Florida Everblades in the ECHL where he was also named an Assistant Captain. The following year, Chris moved to Italy to join the Cortina Squirrels in Italy's Serie A. His final stop was with the ECHL's Trenton Devils, where he served as team Captain during their 2008-09 season.
After his season with the Devils, Chris decided to retire from professional hockey. He began teaching skills to players of all ages in various camps throughout the greater Boston area. In his clinics, he focused on the basics of skating, shooting, passing and puck control - keeping it simple and straightforward. Chris has also coached various programs in the area - including the NH Jr. Monarchs, Islanders Hockey Club, Bentley University
and most recently at Austin Preparatory School.
This is CDH's 9th year offering February and Summer Camps for Mites-Pro, and we're proud to say it has grown every year because of our campers' referrals. Chris takes a lot of pride in his camps; he designs the drills, which build upon each other week to week; he and his staff demonstrate the drills and makes sure the kids understand why they're doing them; he corrects form; he hand picks his very competent and energetic staff. Besides CDH, Chris runs various skills programs in the area, including Reading Youth Hockey, NEHL, North Shore Shamrocks and Boston Imperials Hockey Club. He resides in Burlington, MA with his wife and two children.
